How to pass the PMP® exam
With careful planning and a mapped out study plan, you can indeed pass the PMP® exam on the first go. Many of you have chosen to read this blog post because you wish to successfully crack the exam on the first go. Attempting to pass the PMP® exam can seem like a daunting task when one first decides to undertake the process.
Extensive preparation over a period of time with the correct mindset is fundamental to your success. Studying for the exam requires dedicated study routine, effort, time, and diligence.
You have to have a strong understanding of key concepts, and also the ability to apply the contents of the A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) to realistic situations presented in the exam.
You must determine your eligibility to take the PMP® Exam before beginning your study. The Project Management Institute has project management-related requirements before one sits the exam. This is outlined in the PMP® Credential Handbook.
Give yourself plenty of time while at the same time set a deadline with an exam booked in advance. Understanding the PMBOK® structure as well as being consistent with your study pattern is also vital. It is now down to your individual learning style and personal experiences as a project management.
Use practice questions before hand to identify areas of improvement. Our free app ‘PMP® Exam Mentor’ can be used to undertake this process with hundreds of questions. Bring the app along with you to practice wherever and whenever. If you are not confident about a lot of the questions, it signals that you need more study. It is advised that throughout your study, you should continually take different mock exams to be familiar with the content and more confident about your test-taking strategy. Again, the app can be used to practice questions and boost your chances of success in the first go.
If you’re a PMI® member download the free soft copy from the website. However, it is also wise to invest in a hard copy of the PMBOK®. Additionally, many successful aspirants strongly recommend having a copy of PMP Exam Prep: Rita’s Course in a Book for Passing the PMP Exam.
Have a strong understanding of key content including glossary, tasks, principles, performance domains. Our PMBOK® Guide 7th Edition app with 1006 Glossary terms, and 64 formulas, provides many ways to cement your understanding. Carry the app wherever you go, and read it at every opportunity. Also join PMP® exam study groups for mutual benefits. Study groups can be found on Meetup.com or by joining one of the LinkedIn discussions groups on PMP Preparation. Continue to follow this pattern of study.
